If you have any questions about little Willie, please email his foster mom at Lauren.Churchey@gmail.com! Willie has a clean bill of health! He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccines, and kept on monthly flea/tick & heartworm prevention. Willie's adoption donation to Ohio Fuzzy Pawz Rescue is $250. Hi, my name is Lil' Willie! I'm a 2 year old, 9 lb cream-colored Wiry Chihuahua/Terrier mix, but my foster mom says my big, SOFT, beautiful ears are all Chi! I have "gorgeous" big brown eyes too! I was originally found as a stray and adopted by a nice family, but when my hair started bothering their allergies, I was given to my current foster home. My foster mommy says that my personality is just SO sweet, that when you meet me, you can't help but to fall in love! I'm quite a fun fella...I LOVE to play-wrestle with the other active doggies in my foster home, but my foster mommy also calls me a TOTAL cuddle-bear! :) The other dogs and I can run like the wind, so I love having a fenced-in backyard. My foster mommy says she will make sure that my new home has a physically secure fenced-in yard (no invisible fences, please!) because as a terrier, I love the chase but also want to stay safe. I do love leash walks too! I haven't had the best experiences with very active little kids before, so I'm a little shy of new people. But after you gain my trust (which can take anywhere from just 5 minutes to a few days), I'm all yours and will be submissive to you. The home I used to live in had nice, calm kids from ages 7-11, and I was A-OK with them! I love sitting in laps or just resting my head on your leg if you'll have me. If not, I'm fine just lying in a little doggie bed near you. Where ever you go, I really want to follow!! I'm just following the LOVE! I'm also a "pro" at using the doggie door to go outside. I don't have a problem staying at home while you're away as long as I have another little doggie buddy to keep me company. I do fine with "dog-friendly" cats too. As far as potty training goes, my foster mom says I'm Awesome! I like do my business outside; inside is just not the place to do that! I shed fine little white hairs, but not enough to keep my coat short. I can grow a wild and shaggy look given enough time without a groom. My foster daddy has allergies, but my soft, wiry hair (when kept short and smooth) doesn't bother him. But, the little girl I lived with was highly allergic, so when my hair grew out longer, it did seem to bother her. My foster mom said I am also a very good boy at the groomer's! I am a great watchdog; if something out of the ordinary is happening, I'm gonna let you know! But as soon as my foster mommy claps her hands and calls my name, I zip it quick! As long as you know what's going on, I've done my job in keeping us safe! I'm completely crate-trained, but I really love to sleep right under the covers near your feet...I'm so small, I promise not to take up much room! That's not asking a lot from life, is it...just to be loved and be your companion?? It sure would make me one happy doggie! If you think I could be the special little guy for you, please complete an adoption application on our website to come meet me! If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances. If you go to the
individual webpage of our dogs
, you will be able to get more information each dog.
Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
The adoption process has several steps involved.
Please review prior to submitting an application.
Our adoption process is detailed here:
http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption
Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog. We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved. It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs.
Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable. If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence. Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.
The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms. The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information. If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed. Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.
No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.
At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs.
We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.
We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.
