Maltese : : Female (spayed) : : Baby : : Small
Hi everybody, I'm Spree! I know my name and love to come bounding over when you call me! I'm a beautiful 6 month old, 4 lb Maltese girl who is ALL puppy! I was found as a 2 lb malnourished stray with all my long fur totally matted. My foster mommy has no idea if I ever belonged to anyone, but if so, they must have neglected me for quite a while. But Ohio Fuzzy Pawz is taking care of me now! My fur had to be shaved in some places; so I admit, I look like a little ragamuffin right now. :) But my foster mommy says in just a few weeks, my soft white Maltese fur will grow back in gorgeously. And with all the food I've been eating, I'm up to a whopping 4 lbs now! When I'm all grown up, I may weigh around 6 lbs...so I'm a very petite little lady. My foster mommy calls me her velcro girl...I want to follow her around wherever she goes! I'm also very friendly with everyone; I love to give tiny little lick-kisses! I recently spent alot of time with a calm 9 yr old girl who carried me around VERY carefully...I was so happy just sleeping in her lap. I can be so excited and playful, yet when you hold me, I can relax and fall asleep. I have done FABULOUSLY with pottytraining. I know what the words "Go Potty!" and "Go Poo-Poo!" mean. Of course, I have had a few little accidents while adjusting to my foster home, but my foster mommy says that's to be expected for a teeny little puppy like me! The number of "good pottys" outside FAR outweighs the few "bad pottys" inside! I've even used a potty pad a few times, so I think I could pick up on that quickly if that's what you wanted me to use. I am cratetrained at night and can hold it for up to 7 hrs while my foster parents sleep. My foster mommy says I'm amazing because of how tiny my little bladder is! I just LOVE playing with toys and other small doggies! I haven't been around any cats yet, but I would probably just try to play with them (which may be a good or bad thing! lol) My foster mommy says I'm a goofy little girl, but there are just so many new things to learn! I have already learned "Sit" and how to go up and down stairs. I travel very well in the car and don't even get carsick! I also have the funniest little howl-bark that I'll give to alert you to something new...everyone starts laughing when they hear it! I don't think it's absolutely necessary that I have a furever home with other doggies in it, as long as you don't leave me alone for long periods of time and you promise to take me to puppy training classes or dog parks to socialize with other small dogs. I'm spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all my vaccines. I'm also on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. It's very important during these formative puppy months that I learn acceptable doggie behaviors, like what I can and can't chew or play-bite on. I am already learning many things in my foster home, but I will need that same guidance in my furever home in order to stay your happy little girl. I'm being fostered in the Dayton, Ohio area and my adoption donation is $400. If you have any questions about little Spree, please email Lauren.Churchey@gmail.com! If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances. If you go to the

, you will be able to get more information each dog.
Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
The adoption process has several steps involved.
Please review prior to submitting an application.
Our adoption process is detailed here:
http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption
Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog. We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved. It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs.
Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable. If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence. Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.
The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms. The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information. If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed. Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.
No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.
At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs.
We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.
We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.
