Hello! My name is Johnny. I'm about 10 years old and I came from a house that neglected me. They sent me to the shelter for euthanasia because I allegedly refused to eat and peed myself a lot (that's because I had a HUGE bladder stone!). I was sad for a long time because I did not receive any love. When I got to my foster family's house, my mum was amazed because I gobbled up my food - and kept gobbling it up even to this day! My mum loves that the minute she takes me out to the yard, I pee and then after a few short minutes, poop. I've got great bathroom routine. I am still working on my potty training but doing well if kept on a schedule. At first, I wobbled around and would not take walks and my mum thought that maybe my legs can't tolerate long walks, but then she thinks that I just needed to gain my energy back. When she got me, I was skin and bones. My hip bones were sticking out and now you can't see them. She took me out for a walk with my foster brothers and sister one day and was surprised that I held my own throughout the block! She says that I am a good boy and that a family will be so blessed to have me as a furbaby. All I really want is to snuggle and love on my hoomans. Sometimes, when I am left alone in a room but I know that there are hoomans in the house, I bork and bork, but that's only because I've missed out on snuggles for so long that I'm trying to make up for it. The minute that a hooman is in the room with me, I feel safe and am super quiet. When I'm alone in the house with no hoomans at all, I don't bark. Mum also brags that I'm the goodest boy when bathing and getting groomed. I don't put up a fuss. I also love playing with mum and dad, playing hand chase. That's when they make their fingers walk on the floor and I chase it. I can't wait to meet my fuurrever family. I'm going to love on them and snuggle and they'll see that I'm the bestest boy ever! Johnny's adoption donation is $300 and he is being fostered in the Canton, Ohio vicinty. He has been neutered, microchipped, received his rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms, and started on prevention, as well as flea prevention. Johnny has also had a dental cleaning with some extractions in addition to his cystotomy (bladder stone surgery). Update (10/22/2020): although he has had some dental work done, we are now completing the rest of the work that is needed to be done. Thus, he will be fully available on November 6, 2020 JOHNNY REQUIRES A HOME WITH A STRONG VERIFIABLE VETERINARY HISTORY. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
The adoption process has several steps involved.
Please review prior to submitting an application.
Our adoption process is detailed here:
http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption
Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog. We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved. It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs.
Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable. If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence. Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.
The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms. The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information. If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed. Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.
No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.
At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs.
We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.
We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.
